Duck Potato
Sagittaria falcata
Blooms June to October
This plant of the coastal tidal marshes, ditches and streams is a relative of the Arrowhead plants that have leaves that are distinctly arrowhead shaped to which the latin "Sagittaria" refers. This plants leaves are lanceolate though. Underground parts of the plant are high in starches and a number of animals use it as a food source. |
